After the rain... comments

The same irises, from my bedroom.
Yes Nikki, the irises do smell, kind of vanilla I would say.

Startare, it is because I'm nearer to Etang de Berre. Believe it or not, those 15 miles make quite a difference.

Solange, les lilas étaient en fleur il y a une ou deux semaines (Lilacs have been blooming one or two weeks before).

Wanda, those are the very first roses in my garden.

Rosemary, thank you. Those irises are a gift from my sister, many years ago. At that time, there were more colors. I don't know if they turned back to their original color, or whether some died and the other had babies. Anyway, they are mainly white or blue now. There was a salmon one, but the snails have eaten it last Sunday. There are one or two yellow somewhere too.

Lisa, your garden is fun too. I'm jealous of your ferns, it is too hot here.

Guzzisue, be patients, the flowers will be with you soon! In a couple of weeks, all the flowers will be dormant here, because of the heat...
Have a nice evening!

Busy, busy

Hello all!

I'm not sulking and I loved all your comments about my pants or my garden. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit this blog. Btw, Miss Sewing, I wish I could speak Spanish as you speak English ! But I'm sure reading Spanish blogs will help :-)

I've been busy because I started the jacket last Saturday. Promised, I just wanted to start it, but the explanations were great, as the pattern, and I get carried away. Now the jacket and the pants are almost finished. They just need the final hook, and the final picture. But since Friday, at 19:00, the clouds start to gather and then we have lightning and thunder. Impossible to make a good picture, nor to leave the computer on.

Until I can show you the finished sewing, here is a butterfly I made a couple of years ago, for an exhibition that never took place. I hope it'll make spring come for real:-)

For Kerri

Kerri, you are right, spring is already here. Here are some evidences:
This peonies come from my grand-father's garden. It has been transplanted several times, last time was last year. It is going to bloom this year, I'm quite glad.
I love iris for the way bloom in a couple of days. One day, there is nothing, you turn your back and look again, and here is the bud.

This container is beside my front door. So that I can see it when I come home.

My pet muscaris, the feathered one.

I don't remember planting them, but they are welcome!

The lilac tree was bare two weeks ago...

I hope you enjoyed the tour :-)

Doing nothing

Well, with me, read doing nothing boring. This has been a 3-days weekend.
The first two days brought rain. No problem. I wanted to work on V1099

I was uneasy with this pattern, because of the fly: I've always found it difficult to sew a zipper on pants. On this pattern, there is a real fly. Never done that before. I was a bit scared, to tell you the truth. But the explanations were easy to follow, and in a couple of minutes, I had the most beautiful zipper I ever made :-)
The size too was an issue. I've ordered the pattern in the larger sizes, starting with 16. But when I did the jungle dress, it was clear that a size 14 would be better. So I reordered the pattern in the smaller size. To be sure, I made a muslin. It turn out that the pattern fits me with no alteration, except for the length. Size 16 would have been far too large. And the muslin will be great under a dress for the belly dance performance in June.
Btw, if you need/want the pattern starting with size16, just tell me, it is yours :-)

The pants tonight.

I'll make the hem tonight. I'll start the jacket as soon as possible.

I could have started it today, but it was sunny and some weeding was required. In addition, I knew that I would sew until bedtime, and I needed my rest. So this was not a good option.
Instead, this afternoon I painted my jeans. Another project inspired by Altered Couture. It was fun to do.

Have a ncie week all!

Easter apron

This is the apron I made for my sister. The background fabric is a bowl of salads.
On this, you can attach a cloth to whip you hands on. You can change it easily: it is attached with buttons and buttonholes.
The idea came from my friend Colette.

Easter!

Happy Easter to you all!
This cute little chicken is a gift from my sister. Ain't it pretty?
It came with this lovely wall hanging.
I too made a little something for my sister. I know she has received the box, but being a good girl, she won't open it before tomorrow. So I can't show it to you until then :-)
As you have guessed, I'm not as good as she is, and I opened my box as soon as I received it..
