Back from Barcelona!

It has been quite a weekend!
Started with dinner out with daughter #1, Emilie. Although she knew I was away this weekend, she had come back to attend a party held by a friend of her. Since the bus was leaving at 11:00 p.m. from Aix en Provence, we decided to have dinner there and spend some time together.

It is my second trip by bus to Barcelona. On the first trip, the drivers were absolutely nuts and noisy. It was impossible to relax and sleep. This time, the drivers were "normal", I mean they took roundabouts on all wheels, respected red lights and did not speak loud all night long. So I slept most of the time.

Amandine was thrilled that I had come and made our weekend unforgettable. It was more a girls weekend than a tourist one, with lots of talking, shopping, eating, etc. Her friend Celine joined us. She is a very nice girl too, and it was fun. I don't go out very often, and the atmosphere of Barcelona is quite special, very different from here. It was really like been on hollydays. One advantage of this city is that you don't have to worry about driving. Between the buses, the tube, the trains, the taxis and the bikes, you really don't need a car. This means that I could even enjoy a drink, which I never can here, since I have to drive back home.

We went to the Contemporary Art museum. We were glad we went, it is a beautiful building where art is displayed at its best. Unfortunately, that kind of art does not speak to me, nor to Amandine. I promise I do try but for some pieces, I don't even understand why they call that art. On the other hand, art is present everywhere in Barcelona...

Apart from the above, Amandine had made an appointment in a spa. It was gorgeous. During two hours we had access to a Hammam, two saunas, one room with snow, one with a dew shower, and several pools with hot or cold water, bubbles or no bubbles. One was even filled with oranges. All that decorated in a Tarzan film style, in a huge room. I think this will become a must everytime I go to Barcelona (which I intend to do regularly).

Here are some pictures from the weekend.

You can see more typical pictures here. I took them 18 months ago. And I will post some more in the near future.
Have a nice evening all!

Sounds like a great weekend! Next time I go to Barcelona, you'll have to give me the address of the spa. Did you try the orange pool?

Vero your weekend sounds wonderful. I am so glad you had a good time. I am afraid that my time on a bus was as uncomfortable as your first ride. I hate traveling by bus and haven't done so for years. You are brave to get back onto a bus after your first ride.

A friend of mine was in Barcelona briefly during a tour this year and she and her hubby want to return. It must be marvelous. You both like it so. Can't wait to see more pictures of your stay.

I'm glad you had such a wonderful time with your daughter in Barcelona. It sounds like a fascinating city. I agree with you about the Contemporary art. I can't make head or tail of it usually :)
It sounds like the bus trip is quite long. I'm glad you had better drivers this time and were able to sleep.
Daughters are such fun to be with :)
