In the mail this week: this itty bitty tiny calendar my sister made for me. Isn't it lovely?I love it!
And those are beetroot scones, from a recipe by Clea with hazelnuts, goat cheese, gouda and beetroot.
To go with a salad (for me with a vegetables soup tonight).
Clea created the recipe for Hello Fresh. Although I don't think it is available where I live, I like the concept: They deliver a basket of fresh food (meat, fish, vegetables) that are available at this time of year, to your place, for the amount of guests you want, together with some unusual recipes to try. Thus providing all you need to cook a healthy meal under 30 mn.

That'll be it for this weekend.
Have all a good week and take care!

The reason of the trees in PJ's

I knew you would want to know more about those trees.
They got dressed by mid January. They stand in Aix en Provence's main street, and I go there quite often.
I discovered them on a Friday night, I thought I was dreaming, a bit like Alice in Wonderland, when I saw all those trees in polka dots. And they made me smile. By the way, they are wrapped into strips of knit fabrics.

Their reason is MP2013
Marseille Provence, European Capital of Culture for 2013

You can see the details if you click the link above.

Although I was tempted to go, I did not attend the opening night, too many people, too complicated to drive there, too busy with other stuff, and my personal kitchen grand opening on the same weekend.
I heard it was a big success, and that the people enjoyed it.
It will last a whole year, not only in Marseille, but also in Aix en Provence, in Arles, etc, with many exhibitions, on the streets or in museums. I intend to catch up next month, and share pictures with you.

For Estelle

Estelle, I know you want to see them, so yesterday morning, I went on your behalf.

They were still sleepy, they did not want to wake up.
Even the cars went slowly past them, to avoid disturbing them.
Who ? .
.
.
.
.
The trees in JP's of course.
.

.
.
.
This one stands guard.
while his brothers make themselves comfortable along the street.
They have a blast all day long, being at their best at night, when hundreds of birds gather to perch on them, and discuss the adventures of the day. Believe me, it is quite a noise!
Then, they go silent one by one, and prepare for another night under the stars.
Look, they are waving you good night.

Tadah!...

Here it is:
Nice oven and a cooking table
The high cabinet is the fridge/deep freezer. The door next to the double-drawer is the dish waher.
and the fourth wall.

PS: the bricks in the previous one were only a wall paper, only painted walls on this one, and two rows of ceramic rectangle along the sink.

Almost there

Thank you all for your comments on the coming kitchen. :-)

The elves have worked very hard: they went from this
to this tonight.
The painter had lectured me that I was not to step on the new floor until the day after. He must be of the"better safe than sorry" type, because this is what I found tonight :-)
Tomorrow is THE day. They deliver the kitchen first thing in the morning, and they'll work on it until Friday night.

Have a nice day all!

New Year's Resolution

As usual, the first that comes to my mind is to lose the weight I put on during holidays. Always a challenge...
But it may be a bit easier this year. In my letter to Santa, I asked him to lent me a couple of his elves. He kindly obliged.
So, today, the kitchen went from

 to
As bad as it looks, I'm thrilled to see what they have done. In my letter to Santa, I said I wanted more lights, and plugs, without saying exactly how many, nor where. But the elves are clever, and they pulled cables exactly where I need them :-)
You may wonder why there is a bucket. After the elves took the sink away, they turned the water on again... and the pipes burst. The plumber will come tomorrow to have a look. As the elves said, it is a good thing the kitchen was empty... And it will be easier to repair... Let's be positive!

Tomorrow, they'll fix the walls, and the day after tomorrow, the painting elf arrives.

To prepare for this, I'd emptied my closets, so  no cookies, no chocolate. Only a microwave oven, and soups for dinner...
