Like many monasteries in Mongolia, it was heavily destroyed in the late 1930s. It was reopened in 1944, and the cult restrictions were lifted in the 1990s.
It is a paradise for pigeons.
I love the way the green is taken care of. Let's the nature rule :-) No seriously, in a land where water is short, a bristish-like green would be a crime, wouldn't it be?
